As a college student, she volunteered to conduct field research on whales and dolphins in the Santa Monica Bay. It was a volunteering position with The Collaborative Longitudinal Evaluation Studies of Keratoconus (CLEK) Study at UCLA Jules Stein Eye Institute that steered her path towards optometry. She became fascinated with the complexity of the eye, leading to a decision to dedicate her career to optometry.

Dr. Diep graduated with a Doctor of Optometry degree from The State University of New York (SUNY), College of Optometry in 2006. Throughout her studies she honed her knowledge at Northport Veterans Affairs Medical Center and the SUNY’s affiliated Eye Clinic – one of the largest in the country.
